The item was found at Bangor Memorial Park shortly after 1 p.m., according to Mayor Brooke Kerzner.
The Bethlehem Bomb Squad was called “out of an abundance of caution” and determined the item to be innocuous, Kerzner said.
The scene was cleared by 3:20 p.m., and there was no threat to the community, authorities said.
“I would like to personally thank the Bangor Police Department, our Fire Department, all our First Responders and the Bethlehem Bomb Squad,” said Kerzner.
